Himachal Pradesh

Located in lap of great Himalayas, the state of Himachal Pradesh is known for its beautiful nature and pleasant climate during the harsh Indian summer. For sheer geographical diversity, few places in the world are as richly endowed as Himachal Pradesh. Low rolling hills, just a couple of hundred meters above sea level, climb on to touch the core of the Himalaya Mountains. Here lie peaks that are several thousand meters high and never lose their perennial snows. Then past these forbidding heights, lie the visually stunning cold desert of the Trans Himalaya. Rivers in deep gorges and placid mountain lakes, thick forests and acres of scree, mountainsides draped with snow, and green Alpine Meadows, all form a part of this immense spectrum. Participants coming to IECE programs in Himachal Pradesh can not only enjoy beautiful snow capped mountains outside their windows, but also take up adventure activities like trekking/rafting or cultural trips to places like Dharamsala, home to the Dalai Lama and centre for Tibetan culture. Due to its difficult terrain, Himachal Pradesh has remained relatively untouched and under developed that make for a great requirement in areas of child education, women’s empowerment and health.
