The retail scenario is one of the fastest growing industries in India over the last couple of years. A decade ago there were no shopping malls in the country. But today, in sharp contrast, there are malls almost all over the country. This gives a picture of the growth of the country in terms of economy and also conscious consumers.
India retail sector comprises of organized retail and unorganized retail sector. Traditionally the retail market in India was largely unorganized; however with changing consumer preferences, organized retail is gradually becoming popular.

Unorganized retailing consists of small and medium grocery store, medicine stores, subzi mandi, kirana stores, paan shops etc. More than 90% of retailing in India fall into the unorganized sector, the organized sector is largely concentrated in big cities.
Indian Retail sector is the fifth largest global retail destination. India continues to be among the most attractive countries for global retailers.

Intern’s Role and Tasks:

  1. Need to assist the retail chain in branding, market research, competition evaluation, and mystery shopping to gather intelligence.
  2. Creating and executing customized market research programs
  3. Plan and execute, or be a part of an on-going Live Consumer Experience Mapping Project
  4. Setting research objectives & Goals
  5. Program & Questionnaire Design
  6. Data Collection
  7. Data Preparation
  8. Reporting and analysis
  9. Client presentation
  10. Analysing return on investment (ROI) of all retail stores under the chain banner.
